Sustainability

Our aim is to integrate sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices into our daily routine, and thus offer our guests both a pleasant stay and a conscious experience of it.

Here are some of the key areas where we promote and live sustainability:

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

We invest in modern technology and infrastructure to minimize energy consumption. This includes energy-efficient lighting, intelligent air-conditioning and heating systems, as well as renewable energy sources such as our solar power installations of up to 9 kW per hour at CLOCHETTE CHATEAU and 3 kW at CLOCHETTE OCÉAN.

SOLAR ENERGY

La CLOCHETTE CHATEAU has a solar power system with a maximum output of 9 kW per hour. In 2023, our solar installation saved 1170 kg of CO2, equivalent to planting 4 trees. This represents over 50% of the electricity consumed, with a 15% surplus fed into the public grid.

WASTE REDUCTION RECYCLING

We strive to minimize waste production and actively promote recycling. We have set up recycling programs for paper, plastic and glass. In addition, we favor the use of environmentally-friendly packaging and cleaning products to reduce disposable waste. Composting is widely practiced, with the contribution of our animals, producing organic matter ready for reuse. This approach enables us to generate a very low residual volume of waste. Where possible, we prefer to buy second-hand furniture, or purchase new materials of good quality to ensure maximum durability.

WATER MANAGEMENT

La CLOCHETTE adopts efficient water management practices, including water recovery systems. We have installed our own micro-water treatment plant in the garden, which provides us with water for the whole garden. We also use a well to collect water and low-flow taps.
Currently, our average water consumption is just 74 liters per person per day, including our tenants. This puts us at around half the usual daily consumption of 130 liters per person.

PERMACULTURE LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS

To support the local economy and minimize transport, we work closely with local suppliers and producers.

We favor local production wherever possible, growing a variety of herbs, perennials such as strawberries and berry bushes. We have planted around 100 trees, including fruit trees. And, the 2 hectares of land around La CLOCHETTE CHATEAU are being renaturalized. Aware of climate change, we're trying to take the necessary steps to ensure that our land is able to adapt.
